Sage is a medicinal herb that give a deep warm and calm feeling. Sage is used to lower cholesterol and is an excellent liver tonic. In the spiritual realm, Sage has been used for centuries for cleansing, purifying, meditation, and connection to the spirit world. Sage smoke (smudging) can be used to keep insects away as well as cleanse the air of airborne bacteria. Smudging can be used to cleanse the energy fields of the body and mind on a daily basis.

Cleansing Ritual for Body, Mind, and Spirit

Set an intention.
Light the tip of the bundle or stick with an open flame.
Let the flame burn for 45-60 seconds according to size of flame.
Blow out the flame.
Waft the bundle around your body starting at the feet, up the entire body front and back, finish at the head.
Visualize a purifying light while cleansing.
Extinguish bundle in sand or abalone shell. A few drops of water can be used as well.
Use this ritual on a daily basis.
Crack a window when smudging to all the energy to leave through the smoke.

Cleansing Ritual for Home and Space

Set an intention.
Light the tip of the bundle or stick with an open flame.
Let the flame burn for 45-60 seconds according to size of flame.
Blow out the flame.
Start at the door of the home. Move the bundle in a clockwise direction throughout the room while wafting the smoke.
Waft the bundle in each corner of the room, negative energy often hides in corners.
When finished, continue to allow the bundle or stick to burn slowly or extinguish the bundle or stick by pressing it gently into a bowl of sand or abalone shell. A few drops of water can be used as well.
It is best to use this ritual once to twice a week whenever an unbalance of energy is present.
